Insurance can be a godsend if your puppy becomes ill, has an accident, or causes one. All insurance gives peace of mind, and usually gives third party cover. You may pay our for many years and never have to make a claim, but should disaster strike, it can provide a vital safety net.
Health insurance rarely pays for a simple trip to the vet where the cost is not likely to be more than £40 for a consultation and some medication. But if your dog needs an operation, or suffers a lengthy, even lifelong illness, insurance can really pay off. in most cases, the insurance company will insist that any excess is paid directly to the veterinary surgery, and the rest is paid by them.
Be careful in picking your insurer, and don't just opt for the cheapest package - there can be hidden pitfalls in some policies! If your dog has a pre-existing condition, such as a digestive problem, sore ears or early puppy arthritis, the insurer may not pay out. So please insure as early as possible. We are happy to give advice on insurance, and tell you which companies we consider are offering the best package at any particular time.
